The Gods
In Symbiosis, it is the Gods who are responsible for bringing Ryder and Ashva to Limbo. Disillusioned by the state of the earth and its inhabitants, they nearly annihilated the planet entirely. A few amongst them managed to curb this destructive will, and offered the world one last chance to prove itself. Choosing two ideal representatives, the human and the beast, they created the barren land of Limbo as a sort of playground through which the two might illustrate their qualities. The gods themselves never appear in Limbo, but are expressed through a multitude of voices of different age, timbre, gender, and distance. Formless and shapeless, these voices guide Ashva and Ryder along their quest, and while some of the gods are none too quick to offer support, others still have faith in the abilities of earth's creatures, and will offer subtle clues and hints if the players desire.

Ashva, the Bladed Beast

In Limbo, Ashva represents the vigor and vitality of the animal kingdom. The gods, as their only gift, granted Ashva a silver blade, which can be used offensively or constructively throughout the quest for virtues. It's up to the player to decide whether Ashva will be Ryder's loyal companion and stead, or if the two are bound only by an unsteady alliance as they roam the land.
Controls:

Ryder, the Human Archer

Ryder represents the abilities and advancement of the human race. The gods granted Ryder a wooden bow for a gift, which, like Ashva's blade, can be used both offensively, against hostile Shades, or constructively, to shoot far away switches or fruits. Ryder's personality is determined entirely by the player, be it the valiant champion who fights alongside Ashva, or merely a jaded wanderer, forced into coexistence.
Controls:

Pain, the Stalking Shade

The world of Limbo is laced with shadowed creatures that interact with Ashva and Ryder. Pain is the stalking shade: agile, quick, and known to travel in packs. Not all of the stalking shades are hostile, but should they attack, Ashva's blade is far superior a weapon to Ryder's bow.

Fear, the Flying Shade

Complimentary to the stalking shade, Fear dwells in the skies of Limbo. Shaped like giant raven, Fear is highly susceptible to Ryder's bow, and can be an extreme nuisance if it finds Ashva alone. Luckily, Fear is normally a solitary shade, unlike Pain, and will rarely attack en masse.
